Icelandair Hotel Klaustur is located in the village of Kirkjubaejarklaustur in South-East Iceland. The location is beautiful, in between two glaciers: Myrdalsjokull and Vatnajokull. Kirkjubaejarklaustur is a small and tranquil town, known for its nice weather so it is fair to say the hotel is located in the warmest place in Iceland, with all of course being relative.
The landscape around the hotel consists of Icelands mountains, lakes and green grass. You can see the amazing Skaftafell National Park that is close by, the black sands of Breidamerkursandur as well as Breidamerkurlon, the glacial lagoon. This tranquil place is only about 250 km from Reykjavik. Here you can see hiking trails in the neighborhood and we can guide you here too.
The new terrace is really popular during summer days. Enjoy a moment outside surrounded by nature, with drinks and snacks to enjoy, served by nice and friendly staff. Kjarval´s inspiration can be seen from the windows of the hotel. The Kirkjubæjarklaustur swimming pool and the sports centre is a two minute walk from the hotel.Here you can go with hiking trails and exercise options in the neighborhood and of course, the fantastic Northern Lights ( Aurora Borealis ) will shine bright at Klaustur in the right conditions.
