Finland is a large, sparsely populated country that features barren Arctic landscapes in the North, thousands of tiny islands in the South, vast, unspoiled forests, crystal clear lakes in between – there are roughly 187,000 of them – and one of Europe's most fashionable capitals in Helsinki, Finland holidays are both breathtaking and precious.

What to do in Finland

During your holiday in Finland, you may stay in a Glass Igloo or Aurora Bubble, under the Night Sky and you will be able to see the Northern Lights from your own personal igloo with all modern comforts.

Or try the world famous Ice Hotel: Finland has it all. Finland's Northern Lights, surrounded by vast forests of trees, truly capture the wonder of the Far North. The combination of snow around you, the Finland Northern Lights, the atmosphere of Finland Christmas holidays or New Year holidays in Finland guarantee an outstanding experience.

The concept of the iconic Northern Lights Igloo is a relatively new phenomenon but works beautifully making it the perfect destination for tourists chasing wildlife holidays.

Finland is a country for all seasons, and the best time to visit Finland depends on the regions you are looking to travel to. Aurora borealis and snow mostly occur in Northern and Eastern Finland between December and April. The long summer months run between June and late August, with Midnight Suns appearing in June. This will provide a fantastic time to travel to Helsinki and Lakeland for Finland's fly-driving holidays.

Are Backpacking Holidays Popular in Finland?

Finland is one of the most underrated holiday destinations in Europe, but that is precisely what makes it an attractive destination for backpacking and hiking experiences, since you will be bathing in its spectacular nature while avoiding the crowds. Finland hiking holidays give you the opportunity to explore this beautiful wilderness, away from the crowd and deep into its ancient forests and crystalline lakes. Finland's vast forest and lakes interrupted with small towns and villages are perfect for summer trips, especially in the North where the sunlight never sets during ten weeks at the end of the summer.

How to Get Around in Finland?

Finland has a variety of transportation options that backpackers can use to get around the country. These include biking, walking, car rentals, buses, and trains.

Biking is a great way to explore the country by yourself or with a group of friends. It's also an environmentally friendly option that doesn't require much infrastructure.

Walking is another great way to explore the countryside without having to worry about getting lost or dealing with traffic congestion. You can take walks in any part of Finland—even in the city—and there are usually plenty of trails available for pedestrians to follow.

Cars offer convenience for tourists and commuters alike; they're easy to use and provide access to almost everywhere in Finland. If you're looking for something more exclusive than public transport or just want some peace and quiet while traveling through Finnish towns and villages, renting a car might be your best bet.

Bus travel is very convenient if you need to get from one major city centre to another quickly, and it is affordable alternative to car renting.

Train travel is also a great way to see the country on a slow but scenic trip, and you can get up in the beautiful countryside. Trains also offer great views of Finnish towns and villages as they go by, making for an unforgettable backpacking experience.

Privet!

It was a good trip for me. The arrangements you made for me were spot on. No issues whatsoever. All of the tour guides were exceptional except for one. He is young and I am sure will get much better as time goes by. Very nice person. Just not much provided on information compared to the others. Hotels were good.  I didn’t go to the optional dinner in Tallinn, but the people who went were very disappointed in it. Meal was not so good and they thought there would be some type of entertainment which did not happen. Spanish speaking people were very disappointed in their Moscow guide.
I am very satisfied with the job you did. Don’t suppose you have something for me next year with Poland, Belarus, and Ukraine?

Hi Julija

Happy new year to you too!

We can’t begin to tell you how fantastic our trip was. We was going to e-mail you anyway to thank you for everything you done to make this trip possible as without your help in finding us the right package and price I don’t think we would have gone.

From the minute we arrived to the minute we left we were treated so well and the activities we done were stunning!

The husky safari was everything we was hoping for and more! The snowshoeing and snowmobiling was so much fun too. The food was excellent and our accommodation perfect....we all took full advantage of the sauna!

Please find attached a few pics (many, many more taken though!)

Once again Julija, many thanks for your help and we will be recommending you and your company to our friends and family.

Kind regards

Andy, Tracey, Mark & Tracy

Hello

I also wish to echo Jean Pascal’s comments.

It has been a wonderful trip and surely and experience to cherish.

A great way to finish the year and kick off 2019 with a bang!

Both our stays in Helsinki and Nellim were memorable.

The accommodations in both locations were great and very comfortable.

Being downtown in Helsinki allowed us to walk everywhere and appreciate the architecture and a few museum visits.

The restaurant at the Glo offered great breakfast buffets.

Nellim was an outstanding location and the accommodations splendid.

The staff is extremely nice and helpful.

Our excursions were well organized and offered great opportunities to appreciate the scenery further. The guides were knowledgeable and nice.

Albeit having a bit of repetition with the food choices at the resort, the quality of the food was honest and good. The surroundings surely made up for a few repetitive casseroles ??

Thanks again for all your help in making this trip memorable.

We will surely consider a repeat in Scandinavia for one of our future trips.

Thanks again

Julie and Dan

We had an excellent short break in Helsinki. Well organised beforehand with some great suggestions as to what to see and do. Our transfer from the airport was smooth and the driver was very helpful and informative. Our hotel was funky and cool as well as comfortable. It was easy to find things to do and we found the country, its history and sights, fascinating. All in all, a wonderful time !

We had a fantastic time. Everything went so smoothly. The cycle trip was wonderful and we were lucky with the weather. The wild flowers were just beautiful and no midges in sight!

Travel experience were great, instructions, accommodation, luggage transfers etc all very efficient and good quality.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stays in Helsinki, Gotland and Stockholm and your little maps for finding the hotels were so helpful when we arrived.

The Best Western in Visby was especially good, a very friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. We felt we could have stayed on there.

The breakfasts everywhere we stayed were excellent, healthy and such variety, they kept
us going for the rest of the day.

Thanks again for a great holiday

Regards
Julie and Dean
